- Provide course descriptions
- Career path recommendations
Here are a few things to remember:
- Talk to your teachers and parents about courses they might recommend (ex: "What English class would be the best fit for me?")
- Make sure you have all required courses for graduation. **26 total credits are required to graduate**
- ENGLISH - 4 Credits
- MATH - 3 Credits
- SOCIAL STUDIES - 3 Credits
- SCIENCE - 3 Credits
- PHYSICAL EDUCATION - 1.5 Credits AND Health
- PERSONAL FINANCE
- ACADEMIC & CAREER PLANNING (Xello)
- Make sure you have selected at least 6.5 credits. Seven credits is recommended and gives you a study hall each semester.
- If you failed a REQUIRED course, be sure to reschedule it in your course planner. It's important that you're monitoring YOUR progress towards graduation requirements. If you're in doubt, schedule a time to meet with your counselor.
- RED ALERT: If you receive a red alert, this means that you have requested a course for which you have not met the pre-requisites. It will not allow you to submit. Check the pre-requisite and select another course if necessary. If a teacher is allowing you to skip a pre-requisite, ask your advisory teacher to put your name on the override form.
- IF YOU REMOVE A COURSE FROM YOUR XELLO COURSE PLANNER AND YOU FIND THAT YOU HAVE RED ALERTS POP UP AFTERWARD, HIT REFRESH!
- BLUE ALERT: If you receive a blue alert, you have requested a course that may have a GPA requirement. You can submit but make sure you do meet the GPA requirement. If you do not, set up an appointment with your counselor.
- If there is a class that you plan to take but is not on the list to select (ex: an online class, Youth Apprenticeship, Co-op, etc), please make an appointment with your counselor. You still need to select at least 6.5 credits until the class is approved.
- Select alternate courses totaling TWO credits. These will be your backup courses if your first choices do not fit.
- SOON TO BE JUNIORS: You do NOT have to take your required Phy Ed, Social Studies, Science, or Personal Finance in your junior year. If you plan on taking any of these your senior year, place the class in your senior column of your course planner. Look at the top of your course planner and you will see a button for "Suggestion".It will ask you if you would like to move the requirement to senior year, click on "Let's do it". You will then be able to submit the class requests for your junior year.
- SOON TO BE JUNIORS: If you plan on taking Micro Economics or Macro Economics, you can waive the Personal Finance requirement. Move Personal Finance to senior year before you submit. After you submit, you can remove Personal Finance from your senior year course requests.
